Political videos and collapsed river banks

After an absolutely frightful week in the UK where temperatures were in the brass monkey region I am glad (sort of) to be back in the Algarve.

I was in the UK to supervise the recording of one of my songs, and to film a video to go with it. If you are anti-Labour you might enjoy watching/listening. I'm not exactly pro-Conservative or pro-anything-else, but the current idiot at number ten really does need removing, by bulldozer if necessary. (However, i'll probably attack the next twit as well as soon as he moves in.) The problem is Big Government. It wastes money, wrecks the currency, and does nothing useful. In short, it makes us all poorer, and gives us a lower standard of living, and puts us more and more into straight-jackets.

However, the video is available on You Tube. Have a look. The link is:

Anyway, I have exchanged a high of 3˚C for 15˚C. Unfortunately, it is still raining here. I would love to say, "come to the lovely Algarve", but we are getting it full frontal here this winter. 30 inches of rain since the end of November so far. And it is raining as I write. But..... wonderful news! After today we have ten days of fine weather forecast with temperatures in the high teens. Maybe I will be able to cut the grass at last. Maybe I will be able to repair the driveway, most of which has washed down the hill and is piled up at the bottom. Maybe I will be able to repair the south-western wall of the river. However, while I was away about twenty yards of the other bank collapsed taking part of my rockery and an old dog kennel with it. It now looks like a mini earthquake has hit. I dread to think how I am going to deal with it. I have visions of reinforced concrete beams to hold the rest of the bank back. What a bummer!

Still, the almond trees are now in full leaf, the nispirus are almost ready (I shall be cooking some with my dinner tonight), and the orange blossom is out, and scenting the valley.

If only we can stop the rest of the walls falling down things will be fine. I never thought just how problematic it was going to be having a river flowing through one's garden.
