Tony Leeming of Canvey Island in Sept 99 burned down not just his own home but nine others into the bargain. He was trying to strip paint from his floorboards with a blowtorch. With disarming frankness he explained: "I am not a DIY expert", after 60 firemen were called out to fight the blaze in the row of terraced houses. "Somehow flames got under the boards and started a fire. I never meant to cause all this grief." |

of Exeter first met his neighbour while attempting to fix a
cabinet to his kitchen wall.
"It would not stay up so I kept drilling further into the wall and it came crashing down. I was left peering thru this cloud of dust at my next door neighbour who, luckily, turned out to be a carpenter and agreed to fix it." |
