The
chapel
was
built in 1839 to provide a meeting house for worship by
protestant dissenters. In 1841 the Reverend James Jackson assigned the land and the chapel for the nominal sum of five shillings to trustees for the term of one thousand years. On 19 October 1983 the building became listed Grade 2. During the major refurbishment in 1996 the roof was replaced and the original pulleys for raising and lowering the original candelabra were found. They remain within the new roof. Bath & North East Somerset (Listed Buildings Department) accepts the use may be changed to residential. Stone built detached chapel with an internal eaves height of 5.46 metres (approximately 18 ft). Within the main auditorium is a mezzanine gallery area. There is a single storey rear extension comprising toilet and kitchen with access to the rear garden area. Net internal area: Main auditorium: 54.16m² (583ft²) Rear extension of: 15.2m² (164ft²) Total: 747ft² approximately Unusually for a chapel of this sort there is an enclosed garden adjacent to the building.
